About this event

These online sessions are adapted from the popular ‘Write it Right!’ series and are aimed at early career researchers and those new to writing grants. The objective is to give you some essential background information on how to navigate the funding landscape and to help you with expressing your aims and research plans, which will hopefully result in a successful application for research funding. The workshop will be split between two sessions on consecutive days to allow participants to contribute their own ideas.

The first session will cover how to find a funder and scheme that aligns with your research plans. We will then look at what you need to do before you start writing and how the application process works. We will discuss who will assess your application and emphasise the need for making a plan before you start writing to make sure your aims and plans are communicated clearly to the reviewers and panel members. The emphasis is on clear communication, using 10 key sentences to form the basis for your proposal.

In the second session, we will go into this method in more detail and look at example ‘key sentences’. You will have the opportunity to write your own ‘Summary Sentences’ before this session and submit it for feedback and discussion.
